Hello, there. I hope you’re ready to read about me opening more packs of trading cards because otherwise you’re in the wrong place. I have a lot of Star Trek packs to open, and I’m going to get started with these:

I’m not going to mince words – Star Trek: Picard was a disappointment. The first season had too many storylines going on and none of them were given enough time to develop, so they all floundered. Meanwhile, seasons 2 and 3 had the opposite problem: too little story stretched across ten episodes that were coated in nostalgia, redoing some of the franchise’s greatest hits.
But I digress. These are cards specifically from the first season, which at the end of the day probably turned out to be the show’s “best” season.
Here’s the first pack, and…wow. Only five cards and two of them are the exact same, from the episode where the show really went off the rails into being terrible. We’re not off to a good start, here.

At least I got a card with Riker and Troi from the fan favorite episode Nepenthe. I’ve grown to (ironically) like Elnor, so I’m glad I got a card with him, too.
Okay, the next pack!

Ugh, another card from Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 1, and then one of Picard in Admiral “F-word” Clancy’s office. I do like that shot of the Borg cube, but I didn’t like how it lost to those ridiculous space flowers. Finally, there’s a card from the scene where Commodore Oh makes Jurati eat that purple thing. The purple thing is even on the back of the card!

Now the third and final pack:

Okay, a couple cards from the first episode plus another view of the Picard and Clancy scene. There’s also Picard and Jurati on La Sirena in the season finale, when they’re about to use that ridiculous, random device that makes stuff happen when you think really hard (ugh). Also a card from Stardust City Rag, episode 5, which was the exact episode I lost all faith in the show.
Damn, all these cards did was remind me how much I disliked this show. I probably shouldn’t have gotten them!
More Star Trek Cards
Let’s open two more to wash the bad taste of Picard out of my mouth.

First up, a pack of Star Trek “Quotable” Movie Trading Cards. Oh hell yeah, these are cool. Each of these is double-sided with a different quote on each side, but from the same film.

I like that Kirk just saying “Spock.” from The Motion Picture is worthy of a card. Also, I love Generations and I love that I got the “Remove plank” card from the holodeck scene. The other two cards, from First Contact and Insurrection, are fine. I can take or leave the flotation device gag from the latter.
I also got a Scotty character card. On the back is a puzzle piece that will reveal a Star Trek: The Motion Picture cast photo once it’s put together.

Finally, The Search for Spock cards. These were by the same company that made the Alien Nation cards, so I’m already prepared to open this pack with a pair of scissors because there is no other way. I’m hoping for ship or background alien cards…

Oh cool, I did get a ship and I did get an alien (but not a background alien). Another Scotty card for my growing collection, and two Kirk close-ups. All in all not bad. The information on the card backs is delightfully minimalist:
