Metalder rescues Mai from Gamadon, while Top Gunder duels with Crosslander.
Episode Summary
As Mai and Hakko admire a magazine with the photos they took last episode, Gamadon (the snake guy from episode 4, among others) sneaks up behind them.
Gamadon knocks out Hakko in one hit (ha-ha) and kidnaps Mai, taking her to his…love nest?
Meanwhile, Top Gunder (who returned last episode) hooks back up with Metalder and Springer at their new cave base; they were forced to relocate since their old base, the Silver Caucus, has become a target for the Neros Empire.
Top Gunder vs. Neros Trio
The three guys from the previous episode – Crosslander, Dedemos, and Goblit – show up with orders to take down the traitorous Top Gunder. They all lose. Badly.
Metalder vs. Gamadon
After hearing about Mai’s kidnapping from Hakko, Metalder finds and defeats Gamadon (who now has the power to shoot slime), and rescues Mai. Gamadon’s thrown off a cliff and explodes, so looks like that’s the last we’ve seen of him.
Thoughts
Top Gunder’s return was definitely the highlight of the episode. He’s such a badass! And it was cool seeing him take on three guys on his own and win without any help. On the other hand, you’ve got the Gamadon plot, which wasn’t as strong – not just because it’s a stock kidnapping story, but also because Gamadon’s more of a comical character, and his silliness felt a little off when paired with the Top Gunder story.
