I concur: a fine episode with an intriguing look at the Professor’s true nature. One wonders if the Professor and his needs are an allegory for the professor in us all.
I also like the suggestion of an omnibus summer-special (or OAV?) featuring the “Journey through the Jungle”, perhaps with a meta-theatrical cast-members’ commentary on the bugs, dangers, and inconveniences of filming those episodes….
Another very fine episode. We are advancing further into one of the deepest mysteries of the series. At the same time, and, as it were, correspondingly, the three unwilling travelers (the Professor, Carl, and Tiffany) are revealing new aspects of themselves. Carl, for instance, is clearly reaching the end of his tether, and his standard cynicism is turning into outright rebelliousness. One wonders if soon he may not come to blows with the Professor. Tiffany shows that she has at least some vague notion of what, for instance, focussing is. Will she at some point begin demonstrating skills in various kinds of martial fu? Also, her sleuthing skills ( I take it that’s what they are) are coming to the fore. And, of course, the Professor is becoming…more…menacing…and…mysterious…
The wilds in which they find themselves continue to be full of dangers, added to which are now the unknown dangers posed by the Professor himself, in particular what appears to be his increasing instability and his unknown and probably disgusting needs and habits.
I wish that all the episodes dealing with the three voyagers in the jungle could be joined together… perhaps as a special for some summer evening’s viewing. It would make quite a suspense-filled longer entertainment!
