Rita hides a spider monster in a statue that Trini and the Rangers are trying to save from being demolished.

Another day, another petition
Episode Summary
We begin at Angel Grove High School with Trini and the other Rangers trying to get signatures for a petition to preserve some statue that’s going to be torn down to make room for a barbecue pit. Bulk and Skull show up, say something snarky, then empty some containers full of insects (set aside for a science class) onto everyone.

Why haven’t they been expelled yet?
Meanwhile, Rita replaces the statue with an identical one that has a spider monster inside.

Rita has a new plan
Back to Angel Grove, Trini, Billy, Jason, and Kimberly search outside for insects to replace the ones Bulk and Skull liberated. Putties show up. Cue fight scene.

The teens go bug hunting
Spotlight on Zack
Not too far away, Zack teaches his Hip Hop Kido class – it’s his dance style of martial arts. Some plastic-looking moths appear and crap sleeping powder all over the kids to make them fall asleep.

Zach’s class
Zack runs away from the moths and finds the statue, but realizes it’s a fake because it has snakes on it instead of flowers. Way to pay attention to detail, Rita.

The statue
Zack morphs and destroys the statue with his Power Axe and the spider monster pops out.

Zach destroys the statue
The other rangers show up to help but the spider shoots web at them, then Rita throws her wand to make him grow.

The Rangers get webbed
Megazord Fight
The Ranger form the Megazord, but it too gets covered in web and the zords are forced to separate.

It’s called Spidertron, so does that mean it’s a robot?
Tommy and his Dragonzord are summoned to lend a hand, but nope, it still gets beaten by the spider.

The Dragonzord also gets webbed
So the Rangers fuse their zords with the Dragonzord to make the Dragon Megazord. Yep, that did it. The spider’s dead.
Zack returns to his students who are just now waking up, and tells them off for sleeping in the middle of class.

Zach returns and his students are just fine
In the final scene, we get an update from Trini about the statue: it was somehow brought back after the spider monster died and there were enough signatures in the petition to preserve it. So that means no barbecue pit for anyone.

The Rangers hear the good news
Thoughts
Today we learned that Zack has a fear of insects, and the overall message of the episode is that insects are an important part of the ecosystem and should be respected. But one thing I hated was that he considered spiders to be bugs as well; I kept waiting for someone to correct him but it never happened! They’re arachnids, Zack. ARACHNIDS, DAMMIT!

Everyone meets Billy’s mouse
On the flipside, we get a scene early in the episode where Billy shows everyone his mouse lab assistant, and Kimberly goes against type – not saying “eww, gross, a mouse,” but instead embracing the mouse as a lovable creature.
I found it hilarious when Zack has to abandon the kids and Zordon says, “Don’t worry, Zack, I’ll keep an eye on them.” Yeah, and do what? You’re a floating head in a tube!

Uh oh
It’s like that episode of The Simpsons where Milhouse has to keep an eye on the factory Bart bought for a dollar.
Zack: Ah, geez. Zordon, how could you let this happen? You were supposed to watch the kids!
Zordon: I was watching. I saw the whole thing. First they started dying, then they died.
