Vegeta does all he can to make sure Beerus doesn’t lose his temper and destroy Earth.
Vegeta heads over to Bulma’s party as soon as King Kai gives him word that Beerus, God of Destruction, is on his way. As long as Vegeta can entertain Beerus and keep him from getting angry, Earth will be spared.
Beerus and Whis appear on Bulma’s cruise ship and Vegeta immediately loses his shit. He recalls a bad childhood memory of seeing Beerus being a dick to his dad for not giving him the softest pillow in the universe.
Bulma sees Beerus and Whis, who introduce themselves as old friends of Vegeta, and she invites them to her birthday party. Vegeta spends the rest of the episode stressed out, hoping no one at the party pisses Beerus off.
But it finally happens when Buu refuses to share his pudding. Beerus loses his temper, effortlessly grabs Buu and tosses him into the ocean. Uh oh.
Here we go. This is it – Super‘s first great episode. The story takes a page from a typical sitcom plot, like the boss coming over for dinner story, with the main character in a constant state of panic, hoping nothing goes wrong. But because it uses Dragon Ball characters, especially the usually intense Vegeta, it feels fresh.
Vegeta doesn’t sing karaoke as he does in Battle of Gods, but there are still plenty of funny moments of him acting comically out of character, and the other characters being oblivious to his struggles. The most enjoyable episode in this arc.
