Dragon Ball Super Episode 3: Where Does the Dream Pick Up? Find the Super Saiyan God!

August 20, 2017 Leave a Comment

The old gang gets back together to celebrate Bulma’s birthday; Beerus gets ready for a trip to Earth.

Supreme Kai and Old Kai

The Kais talk about Beerus

Episode Summary

On the Kai planet, Elder Kai talks to the Supreme Kai about Beerus and Gods of Destruction: while the Kais are Gods of Creation who make stuff, the Gods of Destruction destroy stuff to achieve equilibrium in the universe. But Beerus is a very temperamental god and tends to destroy with no greater cosmic plan in mind. If someone makes him angry or disappoints him (as we saw in the last two episodes), he destroys their planet.

Krillin and his family fly over to Bulma’s party

Earth

On Earth, preparations are underway for Bulma’s birthday party, which will take place on a cruise ship. All the characters are here – Krillin, Android 18, their daughter Marron, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, etc. The only absentees are Vegeta, who’s training in Capsule Corporation’s gravity room, and Goku, who’s training on King Kai’s planet. And Launch, I guess, but no one seems to remember her (or care).

Beerus’ World

Beerus and Whis return to their planet and meet with the Oracle Fish that lives there. She confirms the existence of the Super Saiyan God and how he’s destined to fight Beerus. Whis tells Beerus about how Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta and that all the Saiyan survivors now live on Earth…

Thoughts

We’re finally reintroduced to the remaining main characters who were absent in the first two episodes, and it’s nice to see them all. We also get some needed exposition on who Beerus is and what he wants. But other than that, all this episode really does is set the stage for the rest of the arc. It’s the glue that binds everything together; neither good nor bad, it simply is.
