Dragon Ball GT Episode 8: Even Son Goku Gets Knocked About! Whisker Power at the Max

February 19, 2018 1 Comment

Trunks tries to get Zoonama to fall asleep so Goku and the others can cut off his whiskers.

Here comes the bride

Episode Summary

Zoonama arrives to pick up his bride, the disguised Trunks, and takes him to his volcano lair. There, we get a “comical” scene involving Trunks trying to get Zoonama to drink a sleeping potion (or is it sake?) – he succeeds and Zoonama falls asleep.

The cavalry arrives in the form of Goku, Pan, and Leena’s boyfriend, Doma. Doma whips out a pair of giant scissors and cuts off one of Zoonama’s whiskers, waking him up.

Whisker Power

Zoonama breaks down and confesses that his whiskers don’t really cause earthquakes, they only predict them. And now his surviving whisker detects a huge one that causes the volcano to erupt. Everyone escapes and Goku stops the lava from destroying the village with a Kamehameha wave.

Trunks and co. freaking out

Holy smokes – the volcano’s erupting!

Zoonama is welcomed into the village on the condition that he acts as their seismograph. Leena gives her Dragon Ball to Goku, but it’s immediately stolen by a strange man who heads to his mushroom-shaped space ship and flies away.

Thoughts

This episode concludes the storyline introduced in the last episode, but it’s still not good and actually got worse and more unfunny. There’s a moment where Goku says he can feel Zoonama’s power rise due to his inebriation. No Goku. Stop right there. Don’t go making this comical villain into some kind of threat. Zoonama’s a joke through and through.

Aww, I wanted you to mention little Goku getting naked in front of Pan, as it was actually a fun scene.

The boy doesn’t realize his granddaughter isn’t a 4 year old anymore and well, wants to be treated more decently. Even then, It’s just in such a typical Goku style that you can’t help but love this kid.

And for Pan that’s probably the first time she’s seeing a naked boy, especially one who’s like her age. No wonder her face is all red. I just found that moment cute.

The adult in a little child’s body is acting like a kid, while Pan, who’s an actual kid, is the mature one.
