Dragon Ball GT Episode 7: Honey Dearest?! Trunks the Bride

February 1, 2018 Leave a Comment

Trunks has to dress up as a monster’s bride to get a Dragon Ball.

Elder, Leena, and Doma

Gelbo villagers

Episode Summary

The Dragon Radar in Giru directs our heroes to the planet Gelbo. There, they find a village where a woman named Leena has a Black Star Dragon Ball tied to her hair. The villagers explain they’re at the mercy of a monster named Zoonama, whose long whiskers give him the power to cause earthquakes.

To appease this monster, Leena must become its unwilling bride. Goku and the others agree to help her in exchange for the Dragon Ball by volunteering Trunks to go in her place. When the time is right, he has to cut off Zoonama’s whiskers.

Thoughts

A low point in the Dragon Ball franchise, that’s for sure. Besides the fact that the entire premise is silly and childish (and Trunks disguising himself as a woman is way less funny than the show thinks it is), this entire premise has been done before. It’s a near duplicate of the fourth episode of the original Dragon Ball.

Zoonama

Zoonama is the worst

Monster threatening village, check. Monster wanting bride, check. Male hero character dressing up as a woman, checkmate. But at least that episode was funny and introduced a memorable character who stuck around (Oolong). Zoonama is just plain bleh and we have to deal with him for another episode!
