Episode Summary

In the Briefs’ home, Bulma and Gohan are hard at work prepping a spaceship for Goku’s journey through the cosmos. The ship can only hold three people, and Vegeta forces Trunks and Goten to accompany Goku, since he thinks they’re both slackers.

Kidnapping Plot

A couple crooks lurk outside; they plan to kidnap Vegeta/Bulma’s daughter Bulla in hopes of getting ransom money. They see the young Goku loitering outside and settle for kidnapping him instead. Big mistake.

The rest of this story plays out like the film Baby’s Day Out. Goku has no idea he’s been kidnapped, and forces his would-be kidnappers on all sorts of mayhem at restaurants, carnival rides, etc. After all this, the kidnappers get fed up and set Goku free.

Take-Off

At the end of the episode, the ship finally prepares for launch. Goten gets a phone call from his girlfriend and misses his ride, but Pan sneaks aboard and takes his place.

Thoughts

The scenes with the Dragon Ball gang preparing for their trip were good. It was nice catching up with all the characters and seeing how they’ve changed since the end of Z. Vegeta with shorter hair and a moustache is a pretty crazy sight.

Wow

The letdown is the kidnapping subplot. It distracts from the main story and we just don’t have time for this bullshit.
