Goku challenges Beerus to a fight on King Kai’s planet.
Picking up where the last episode left off, Beerus and his attendant Whis arrive on King Kai’s planet. Beerus asks Goku and King Kai about the Super Saiyan God, but they have no idea what he’s talking about.
Goku is curious about Beerus’ strength and challenges him to a fight. It’s an easy victory for Beerus, as he pummels Goku into the ground, then leaves with Whis for Earth so he can ask Vegeta about the Super Saiyan God next.
This episode is my main argument for watching the Battle of Gods movie instead of these first 14 episodes of Dragon Ball Super. A 5 minute scene in the movie is stretched out to cover this 20 minute episode, and it shows; it’s slow as balls.
In Battle of Gods we just see Goku fight Beerus as a Super Saiyan 3, but here we see him fight as a regular Super Saiyan first. Then a Super Saiyan 2. Then finally Super Saiyan 3. And we spend nearly the entire runtime on King Kai’s world – no cutaways to Bulma’s party to see how everyone’s doing or checking in on Vegeta or Old Kai. So, yeah. Pretty boring.
