On a desert planet, Pan goes off in search of a Dragon Ball by herself.
Goku, Trunks, and Pan (and Giru) resume their search for the Black Star Dragon Balls and arrive at a desert planet – no, it’s not Arrakis, but it does have giant scorpion-centipede things called “sandipedes.”
Trunks feels like Pan’s not pulling her weight in the group and that maybe they should head back to Earth and replace her with Goten, which is bullshit, really, considering she was instrumental in defeating Luud last episode.
Out and About
Pan overhears Trunks and gets sad and mopey. She wanders around in the desert looking for the Dragon Ball but collapses from dehydration; Giru shows up in time to rescue her from a sandipede and gives her water and the Ball (which he found).
She and Giru return to the others and Trunks tells her he was wrong and she really is a valued member of the team.
Meanwhile, Dolltaki arrives at Dr. Myuu’s lair but finds General Rilldo, Myuu’s number one guy, in his place; Rilldo tells Dolltaki he sucks and kills him.
This was a nice buffer episode between two mini-arcs; it was slower paced and more character-driven than what we’ve been used to. Ironic, though, that in an episode that focuses on Pan and is supposed to show her worth to the team…she does absolutely nothing! Giru does all the heavy lifting. At least it finally brings the two of them together, and she apologizes for all the times she’s treated him badly.
